Vol. 45, No. 23 -- December 16, 2000
This Week's Program
Dr. Garry Baldwin - Pastor of First Baptist Church
Last Week’s Program
Glenn Taylor gave a very interesting program comparing
delicious foods prepared by Julia Childs and a
lady he called “No-No”. Throughout the program, he
included thought-provoking comments on the kind of
food people eat, with the expectation “proper” food
will solve all problems. Of course, food is just one
facet of a healthy lifestyle, and we all need to
consider our actions and reactions to how we live, how
we treat others, and how we try to do our best.
Special thanks to Glenn for a very enlightening and
entertaining program!

Thought for the Week: If everyone is moving forward
together, then the success takes care of itself.
YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS: MISCELLANEOUS
Well, when you see “miscellaneous” as a column topic,
you know that I have no specific topic in mind and
must piece together various thoughts. So, here goes……
I really missed not being able to attend our meeting
this Wednesday. It’s funny; the more you attend
meetings, the more you hate to miss meetings. The
hard part seems to just get in the habit of attending
meetings. I cannot and will not preach about
attendance: After all, I know I would be the “pot
calling the kettle black”. My attendance record was
not good at all, regardless of whatever reasons I had
for missing. Our new Rotarians seem to be starting
off with good attendance records and I really am
pleased with that.
I think I am “family” now. Anytime the president call
be called down while at the podium for a minor
mispronunciation of a word, then I think we are
getting to know each other pretty well! I have been
saying to myself, “There is no “R” in “idea”. And,
when I told my kids that, they said, “Guess what, dad;
there’s no “R” in Chicago, either!”
I’ve got the best Vice President in town. I know that
you already know that, but I just had to say it so you
would know that I know. (How’s that for a little
tongue twister!) Marilyn Brookman and I just seem to
be thrown together. We were in the same Leadership Owensboro class and then the same Leadership
Kentucky class. Then, we worked together on the
Chamber board and I prevailed upon her to join the
Museum of Science and History board. She is the
consummate professional and, even more importantly,
just a wonderful friend and person. Thanks, Marilyn,
for helping me, Rotary and the community.
Christmas Wish is very active. You want to feel good about yourself? Go help wrap packages, buy presents, deliver presents, answer the phone, etc. Got questions, call 689-1880. Ask for Sally and tell her “Sim sent you”.
Thanks and have a great week!
