Last Week’s Program....
Henry "Buddy" Steen, Executive Director of the Central Region Innovation and Commercialization Center, addressed Rotary this week. This Center has been recently established to help facilitate the growth of science and technology companies in this area. While many people may have ideas and inventions, they may not know how to commercialize their intellectual property. Along with helping existing businesses grow, the Center endeavors to assist in all aspects of creating a business by surrounding these entrepreneurs with mentors in such fields as attorneys, accountants, and investors.
Mr. Steen’s office is based out of Bowling Green, in Western Ky. University’s Center for Research and Development. He works closely with the college to find potential entrepreneurs involved in research projects. He has also worked with Owensboro Community College graduates of the electrical engineering program. He looks forward to expansion in this area with the higher education institutions located in Owensboro. If you would be interested in mentoring or know of inventors, please contact the Center. Also, please help in spreading Mr. Steen’s message "Do not fear failure."
Special thanks to Mike Hobson and guests for providing music during lunch. The musicians are a part of the Bluegrass Blast, located in Owensboro this weekend, at English Park.
