OWENSBORO'S ROTARY IMPETUS

December 20, 2003

This Week’s Program...  No Meeting December 24th - Christmas Eve.

Last Week’s Program...
John Kurtz provided an update on the Rotary Indoor Playground Project. The playground, which will be housed at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History, is in the initial design stage. Fundraising will continue throughout the design and construction stages. The project committee is working with Interactive Playco, a design firm from Nashville, Tennessee. Interactive Playco is nationally recognized for creating and installing child-centered structures for museums and other clients such as Disney. John shared pictures of similar installations and some of the concepts being considered for our project. A theme will be crucial to the project’s success; several are being discussed. Recognition for Rotary will also be incorporated in the exhibit.

Thank you, John, for your report and for your continued hard work on this project.

Following John’s report, the club was treated to a beautiful Christmas Concert by the Daviess County High School Madrigal Singers. The vocal group, under the direction of Shelia Miller, sang a number of holiday selections. Their exceptional performance truly put us all in the Christmas spirit.

We thank the Madrigal Singers for an outstanding concert and Shelia for continuing to inspire young musicians in our community.
