Last Week’s
Program...
Ray Harper, head basketball coach at Kentucky Wesleyan
College, addressed Rotary this week. Since he was named head coach in 1996, Ray
has taken KWC to 5 National Championship games, winning two National
Championships in Division II. He has accumulated 200 wins, faster than any coach
in NCAA history. He is also the active coach with the most wins in Division II.
Coach Harper discussed this year’s team at KWC, which is currently 21 – 2 for the season. There is a very good chance that Marlin Parmer will be an NBA draft pick this year. He also discussed his recruiting style, noting that the team’s exposure on national television over the past 5 years has helped tremendously. His greatest satisfaction in coaching is watching the players grow during their time in college, becoming successful through the opportunities given them at KWC.
Thanks Ray for speaking to our club!
