Last Week’s Program...
Kate Higdon, executive director of PRIDE, presented a program introducing the organization and discussing projects in which they will be involved. PRIDE is a grassroots, non-profit organization who seeks to improve the appearance of Owensboro Daviess County through public involvement. Members are interested in issues and projects that affect the planning, design, aesthetic appeal, and livability of the community.

Ideas for projects come from suggestions given by community members and concepts from other communities. Examples include park benches, green medians, signs, underground utility lines, architecture, and property maintenance. Projects are based on the concept of “how your community looks affects how you feel about it.”

For an opportunity to have your opinion heard on projects affecting our community, there will be a workshop held on March 25th at 6:00 pm, located at First Christian Church.

YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS:
Last week, we inducted new member Bob Hunzinger. Bob is originally from Effingham, Illinois, graduating from the University of Illinois. He and his family have settled in Owensboro, as Bob has been named the new general manager of Owensboro Municipal Utilities. He enjoys golf, racquetball, running, reading, and being involved with his children’s activities. Please join me in welcoming Bob to Rotary.

The growth of any organization comes from bringing in new members. Thanks to all of you who have sponsored the nine new members that have joined this year. In the contest from July 1st through December 31st, Keith Cain and Todd Inman tied by sponsoring two people each. They each get to enjoy a month of free meals. We are running a new contest from January 1st through June 30th. Everyone has a chance to win. Let me encourage each of you to look for qualified people to join us in the greatest club around – Rotary.
