Last Week’s Program
Sister Suzanne Sims, OSU and Sister Amelia
Stenger, OSU made a joint presentation. Sister Suzanne spoke first on the role
of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph. She reported that they have 178
members in their order. Their mission today is the same as it has been for the
past 130 years; namely to educate and provide Christian faith formation. She
gave numerous examples. Sister reported that they have approximately 80
employees involved with helping them carry out their mission. The Mount St.
Joseph annual payroll currently totals $1,600,000.
Sister Amelia then spoke on the Ursuline Flatboat Adventure; The Journey Continues. This August five (5) members of the Ursuline Order will re-enact the journey made by the five (5) original Ursuline Sisters who came to Daviess County from Louisville by flatboat in 1874. By doing this they hope to achieve the following goals: 1) highlight their 130 year mission of education, 2) interest young women in the joining their religious order, 3) create a virtual experience, via the internet, of flatboat history life at the time and 4) raise funds needed to carry out the Ursuline mission.
Thanks for an interesting program.

Thought for the Week: "Remember that what you believe will depend very much on what you are." ~ Noah Porter (1811 - 1892)
YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS:
Spring is just around the corner. The days are becoming longer and Mother
Earth will soon cloth herself with new growth. This is my favorite time of the
year. I have a spring in my walk and am eager to enjoy nature’s beauty. My wife,
Margie, has already announced her plans for the spring flowers she will be
planting in the next few weeks. Spring is a time for the fresh and new.
Rotary has a similar process of keeping things fresh and new as we work to build on the past and move into the future. Thanks for "Lending a Hand" to your fellow man by being part of Rotary.
Have a great week,
Jeff
