Thought for the Week: “If people never did silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.” ~ Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889 - 1951)

YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS:
As I look back over the past 12 months of activities of our Owensboro Rotary Club we have much to be proud of. We sponsored the Owensboro Rotary Readifest contributing over 200 volunteer hours and $20,000 (thanks to a $10,000 matching contribution from the Lawrence and Augusta Hager Foundation). The Owensboro Rotary Club Foundation also contributed $7,000 to local community organizations, collected $38,000 in pledges for the Owensboro Rotary indoor playground, collected $3,075 for the International Rotary Gift for Sight Program and raised money for UNICEF. Your club rang the bell for the Salvation Army, made college tuition loans, presented five $1,000 Tom Laswell college scholarships, recognized the success of several local students by presenting the Willis Combest Awards and the Larry Hager Awards. Our club contributed $6,000 to the Rotary International Foundation allowing us to name six new Paul Harris Fellows. Our club won the International Presidential Citation Award for these and other activities that are too numerous to mention. In addition, we had fun, made new friends, and enjoyed each others fellowship.

Does it sound like I am proud to be a part of the Owensboro Rotary Club? You bet! I hope you share my pride!

Thanks for "Lending a Hand" and being part of Rotary.

Have a great week,

Jeff
