Last Week’s Program...
Matt Gunterman, a Rotary Scholar, spoke to the Club about Progress on the Green. Progress on the Green, of which he is the founder and president, is a service organization based in McLean County. Their mission is to help rural communities through advanced technology. One of their programs is the County Scholar Program which is designed to help twelve promising high school students in McLean County engage in their creative side to fulfill their individual goals. Another program set to begin later this year will provide McLean County High School graduates with a permanent forwarding email address which will enable anyone in the future to contact individual graduates. IHAQ or "I Have A Question" is another program, similar to the County Scholar Program, except this helps all students by giving them a website at which to ask questions about available resources for higher education. The last program, hopefully to be realized in three to five years, is the Coal Field Initiative. This program will enable children in our region to be in contact with children in similar rural communities around the world.
Thank you Matt!

ROTARY ANNOUNCEMENTS...
• Bruce Brubaker reminded the Club that for the second year in a row Owensboro’s Southern Little League would be playing in the Little League World Series. Bruce asked that the hat be passed around for a collection to help the parents of the team travel to the games. The "hat" produced $364.00. Bruce will present this gift, along with $1,100.00 already pledged, to the team at a Wednesday night fundraiser. Thanks everyone for your support of Owensboro’s youth.
• John Kurtz reminded everyone about the Float the Boat Fundraiser scheduled for 6:30 p.m. August 25th at Old National Bank. There will be a social hour and auction. Let John know if you have items or services available for the auction.
• Indoor Playground contributions and/or pledges may be mailed to Jeff Ebelhar, Owensboro Rotary Foundation Treasurer, at the following address:

YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS:
LET'S FLOAT THE BOAT!
I hope to see all of you at the Club's "Float the Boat" party and auction on Thursday, August 25, 2005, at 6:30 p.m. at Old National Bank's main office at 123 West Fourth Street. Be sure to R.S.V.P. to
John Kurtz at 926-8553 or at john@kurtzauction.com. This event will be fun and will help us raise the remaining funds to complete the Indoor Playground.
The major components of the Playground, including the Tree House complex with bridge, the Train Station and Crawl Tubes are on site and ready to be installed. The paddlewheel boat with the Rotary logo on the paddlewheel will be the centerpiece of the installation. Your board decided at the beginning of this project not to spend money on the project until it was received. We hope this auction will generate the funds to complete this project. I know you will all be pleased with the completed project and be proud to have our Club's name on it!
If you have items or services to be auctioned, let John know. See you there!
Have a great week!
Bill
