This Week’s Program…
No meeting this Wednesday, but please plan to attend the Rotary Gala & Awards Dinner on Thursday evening, June 30. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m.

Last Week’s Program...
Rotary Readifest:
Jennifer Thurman, Family Resource Center Coordinator at Sutton Elementary School, and Carrie Kimbrell, Youth Service Center Coordinator at Daviess County Middle School, provided information about this year’s Rotary Readifest. The back-to-school fair, scheduled for July 26 from 1-5:30 p.m. at the Executive Inn Convention Center, will once again be a single combined event for all students in the Daviess County Public Schools, Owensboro Public Schools and Owensboro Catholic Schools. Students attending will be able to take advantage of free haircuts, sports physicals, vision screenings and dental screenings. Each student will also receive a "homework bag" containing school supplies. Booths representing each school and approximately 70 other agencies will be set up in the convention center. Jennifer and Carrie thanked the club for supporting Readifest and the resource centers.

River of Music Party (ROMP):
Fellow Rotarian and International Bluegrass Music Museum Executive Director Gabrielle Gray described the upcoming River of Music Party (ROMP) and invited Rotarians to attend the event scheduled for June 23-25. ROMP will consist of three days and nights of great music including "The Legends Concert" featuring Bluegrass Hall of Honor musicians, plus new museum exhibits, workshops, arts and crafts, a trade show, and the Bluegrass Masters Film Festival. New documentaries on bluegrass pioneers will be shown and living artists will perform and talk about their lives. ROMP performers include Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Jimmy Martin, The Grascals, Curly Seckler, Mountain Heart and many more. KET will be onsite filming ROMP events and activities. Following her remarks, Gabrielle introduced the IBMM band which includes herself on fiddle, fellow Rotarian Ted Lolley on bass, Joe Bob Pierce on guitar, and Mike Lawing on mandolin. They played several bluegrass selections including the ever-popular "8 More Miles to Louisville" and concluded the program with the ROMP theme written by Mike Lawing.
