Last Week’s Program...
At last week’s meeting, the club
elected three members to serve a 2-year term on its board of directors. The six
nominees for those slots each took three minutes to introduce a designated
opponent and explain why that individual should be elected. John Kazlauskas,
Greg Longtine, John Medley, Sr. Suzanne Sims, Gavin Roberts, and Joy Horton
(well-represented by stand-in Tish Correa-Osborne) all did a great job of
campaigning against themselves. Immediately following the "face off," club
members cast their ballots. With such an outstanding group of candidates, the
choice was a difficult one. A special "thank you" to Tim Bradshaw for moderating
the program and to John Kurtz for serving as official timekeeper.
The
winners of the election will be announced at this week’s meeting and will take
office beginning July 1, 2005.

YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS:
Have you
ever wondered what characteristics a model Rotarian would possess? According to
Colorado Rotarian John Minter, we can construct a model from the documents we
all agree to support when we join the organization.
From the Object of
Rotary, a model Rotarian is:
· a person who seeks friendships as an
opportunity for service
· a person with high ethical standards
· a
person who recognizes the worth of every occupation and its potential for
serving society
· a person who practices the ideal of Service Above Self
in personal, community and business life
· a person who seeks to advance
international understanding, goodwill and peace through Rotary and through
business and professional connections
From the Four-Way Test, a model
Rotarian is:
· a person who tells it like it is
· a person who is
fair
· a person whose words and actions benefit others
· a person
whose words and actions create good will
Sounds like a tall order,
doesn’t it? And it is. It’s also one we should strive to fulfill.
Have a
great week!
Pat
