Last Week’s Program...
Author Gary West spoke to the Club about his recently published book King Kelly Coleman: Kentucky’s Greatest Basketball Legend. Kelly Coleman was a basketball superstar from Wayland High School in eastern Kentucky and is regarded by many as the greatest basketball legend in the state of Kentucky. During his high school days at Wayland, he had more than 4,000 points breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record for the most points scored in a career. After graduating from high school, Kelly played a brief six weeks in West Virginia before finding himself in Owensboro and playing for Kentucky Wesleyan College. While at Wesleyan Kelly set the record for the highest scoring average for a career with 27.7 points per game and the most points in a season, 848. King Kelly is returning to Owensboro on November 18 and 19 to participate in the King Kelly Coleman Homecoming Weekend. On Saturday, during halftime of KWC’s season opening game at the Sportscenter, Kelly’s number 45 jersey will be retired.
Thank you Gary for entertaining us with stories about this basketball legend.

Thought for the Week: "We can do anything we want, as long as we stick to it long enough." ~ Helen Keller
YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS:
Happy Thanksgiving! As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week we all have much to be thankful for. We can certainly be thankful that we have escaped the ravages of the recent storms and remember those who were not so fortunate. As president of our club, I appreciate those who help the club function each week. I would like to thank:
• Our Board members and volunteers who help arrange programming, man the fellowship table and lead us in the invocation, pledge and 4-way test.
• Donna and Martel who keep us up-to-date with their notes and comments.
• The members who volunteered at the Rotary Readifest and who man the Salvation Army bell.
• All donors to the Owensboro Rotary PlayZeum.
• Mike Wallace and Mediaworks for helping us publish the Impetus each week.
• Progress Printing for printing and mailing the Impetus each week.
• Those members who have proposed new members for our Club.
• All of you who have contributed to the fellowship and fun we have each week.
I hope all of you enjoy being with your family and friends this holiday weekend.
Have a great week!
